When Bishop Francis Kallarakal started his ministry as the first bishop of this diocese, there were about 35 priests, and among them, majority were aged. To promote the vocation to priesthood, the bishop established a minor seminary in 1993 at Manalikkad. Today this institution is proud of having trained more than 20 priests in its 8 years of service. The Diocese of Kottapuram is also proud of six of her priests having been elevated to the order of Episcopate.(See Bishops)  About 65 of them working as Religious Priests and 20 of them are working in other dioceses.
